Parental Effort

Remember, this is your kids' play time. Let them PLAY soccer!

In the Recreation League, all parents are requested to assist League operations by carrying out a job for which they sign up at Registration. Such jobs typically require
2-3 hr. of the time of one person, once during the season. There are job quotas based on need, and the two most common jobs are assisting with Field Preparation and acting as a Field Monitor, although several others are available. Other jobs, typically requiring more effort, are available for those with greater interest; these offer opportunities to shape the club's development and, in some cases, those who accept them are accommodated with respect to scheduling requests for practices and/or matches. Coaches, assistant coaches, referees, assistant referees, and administrators all fall within this group; there is an especially strong need for referees. In addition, the Recreation League has a  tradition of providing drinks and snacks after each match, and parents are typically asked, usually by a designated team parent, to provide such refreshments once or more during each season.
In addditon, volunteers are required to complete a disclosure form.

We try to make soccer as positive and enjoyable a learning experience as possible for the kids. This means that our coaches should teach sportsmanship and fair play along with the rules of the game, and that giving children equal playing time is more important than winning. For parents, supporting all of the players on a team should be more important than criticizing a poor player or a poor play. Comments should be positive; not negative. Civil behavior and good sportsmanship is expected
of everyone connected with Rock Springs Soccer -- players, coaches, referees, and spectators.
